Giant Footprints: Chronicles of Pastor Christopher Augustus Williams' Inspiring Life Journey

On January 7, 2024, Pastor Jamie Gordon, the Youth Director of the Grenada Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, unveiled an inspiring book that captures the remarkable life and legacy of former pastor and youth director, Pastor Christopher Augustus Williams OBE, entitled Giant Footprints: The Life of Christopher Williams.

On January 7, 2024, Pastor Jamie Gordon, the Youth Director of the Grenada Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, unveiled an inspiring book that captures the remarkable life and legacy of former pastor and youth director, Pastor Christopher Augustus Williams OBE, entitled Giant Footprints: The Life of Christopher Williams.

"The book is a tribute to Pastor Williams' lifelong dedication to service and leadership, aiming to empower youths across the conference to embrace their life's purpose with fearlessness and a deep reliance on God," said Pastor Gordon.Reflecting on the awe-inspiring passion that fueled Pastor Williams during his service, Pastor Gordon, who was mentored by him, felt compelled to chronicle his journey. From an intern under Pastor Williams to becoming his church pastor.

Pastor Gordon recounts the obstacles Pastor Williams overcame in various leadership roles both inside and outside the church. "I was amazed to know how many places he served in leadership positions outside the church. The obstacles he had to overcome was very inspiring for me as a young man. I decided that his story must be chronicled to empower upcoming generations."

The narrative emphasizes his resoluteness, from childhood to his influential role at the age of 90.

Pastor Williams, a product of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, transitioned from being a public servant to a Seventh-day Adventist minister, dedicating over 30 years of service to the church. His roles included being the first executive secretary of the Grenada Conference in 2003, serving in family ministries, education, and holding the record for the longest-serving youth director in the conference. Additionally, he contributed to various civic entities, such as leading the prison visiting committee, and serving as a member of the interim government of Grenada after the revolution. At present he serves as chairman of the Grenada Cocoa Board.

The book launch was attended by church members, family, friends and esteemed figures like former Prime Minister Tillman Thomas who addressed the gathering. In his remarks former Prime Minister Thomas, highlighted Pastor Williams' impactful life of service and noted that " it is worthy of emulation." Pastor Gordon, expressed the hope that "Giant Footprints" would inspire younger generations to leave their own legacies.

The inspiration of this groundbreaking work was fueled by Pastor Gordon's desire to document the life story of one of the Adventist trailblazers in Grenada. "Beyond recounting a journey of faith and education, the book delves into some profound experiences that is shaping Pastor Gordon ministry. It also identifies influential men and women encountered during ministry, who showcased his commitment to sharing wisdom through mentorship and leadership.
