The Caribbean Union, alongside its Conferences, Missions and Institutions, mourn the loss of Sister Heather Dawn Small. Her extensive and distinguished Christian service to the Caribbean Union Conference and the global church, notably as the director of women’s ministries, remains a cherished legacy.

Sister Heather Dawn Small's ministry embodied dedication, honesty, and integrity, resonating with the mission of the Seventh day Adventists Church and advocating for the welfare of women worldwide. Her presence was always a source of solace; she exuded humility, embodying benevolence, care, kindness, and approachability.

Small served the Adventist Church in varying capacities. She served in Trinidad and Tobago as assistant to the president of the University of the Southern Caribbean and children’s ministries and later women’s ministries director of the Caribbean Union Conference.

Her leadership exemplified servant leadership at its pinnacle. She served as the spiritual compass for the women under her care, offering counsel that was embraced due to the genuine love she radiated to all within her sphere of influence. She was a faithful proponent of women’s education and a strong advocate against any form of violence against women, children, or other people.

A stellar team player, she was exceptionally organized and adept in time management. In essence, she was a remarkable spiritual guide, who lead the Church in the Caribbean Union and the global church with unparalleled distinction. We join in solidarity with our sisters worldwide mourning Heather Dawn’s passing yet eagerly anticipating the day when the savior will awake her to eternal joy.

Our deepest sympathies and Christian love extend to her husband Pastor Joseph Small, a Seventh day Adventist minister, and her children, Dalonne and Jerard and their families. We trust that during this time, the Holy Spirit will provide solace, encouragement, and hope as we await Christ's imminent return.

We eagerly await the glorious day of reunion with our Lord and may Heather-Dawn inspire us to continue the noble work she championed. Her impact will forever be in our hearts.

Thank you.
